With a lot of hard work and passion for the environment, Indian Wood Craft was born to promote reclaimed wooden and epoxy furniture as an alternative to furniture made from protected and endangered woods.
We pledged to use only reclaimed wood and trees to make our furniture and we are proud to stand by our commitment.
With the help of our amazing clients, we've been able to save more than 15,000 perfectly alive and green trees from being cut to shreds to make furniture where our competitors still choose to cut green trees to procure wood.
Illegal Logging has been one of the biggest issues in India being the third biggest country to Import illegally logged wood. Illegal Logging has been the biggest reason for the increase in Deforestation in the last 20 years.
Due to illegal logging, forests that once covered 11% of India's land surface now cover a mere 6% and experts estimate that the last remaining forests could be gone in less than 50 years. We are losing forest land at an average rate of 0.5 acres every second.
Illegal logging is detrimental to our climate, ecosystems, and wildlife. Due to the loss of tree cover, the environment has changed a lot with 2018, 2019 and 2020 being the hottest years in over half a century. With the inception of Indian Wood Craft, we decided not to buy any timber from vendors that have been flooding the market with illegally obtained wood. Thus all of our furniture comes from sustainably managed and legally obtained wood and it’s crafted exclusively in Rajasthan.
By raising awareness and providing an environmentally sustainable alternative for wood furniture, we hope to do our part to help preserve and protect one of our planet’s more valuable resources.
Illegal logging and widespread deforestation have already begun to affect our climate and ecosystem. Animal habitats are disappearing and animals are endangered and going extinct. The earth is warming and deforestation remains a major global problem.
Nearly half of the world’s species of plants and animals will be destroyed or severely threatened over the next 25 years due to rainforest deforestation. Iconic species such as the Bengal tigers of India, Siberian tigers of Russia, and orangutans of Indonesia are all endangered due to illegal logging which supplies the conventional furniture industry.
While we can’t change that practice overnight, we can partner with you, and together we can be part of the solution. By supporting Indian craftspeople who work with sustainably harvested woods, you are sustaining a local economy and making a significant impact on our planet’s future.
